MILO

*MILO* IN A NUTSHELL: Very well trained (ready for his CGC test) 11 month old youngster. Does better with a doggie companion but with proper, ongoing socialization could adjust to being an "only child."
Milo and his sister Jane joined our rescue when they were only a couple months old.

See the beginning of Milo's journey to our rescue

They were both evaluated and ultimately taken into the Soldier's Best Friend program for training and placement with a veteran as a service dog. While Milo was always the "boss" and ringleader and Jane the follower when the two pups were together, once they were separated it was Jane who gained confidence and excelled in the SBF program and Milo who struggled. Ultimately, Milo is being returned to our rescue for rehoming.

According to Shelby, trainer at SBF: "Meet Milo -- A Gentle, Loyal Companion

This handsome 11-month-old is the perfect mix of intelligence, loyalty, and sweetness. Like many shepherds, he can be a bit shy and reserved when meeting new people, but once he feels safe and comfortable, his affectionate and gentle personality really shines through. Milo is incredibly well-trained and eager to please. He has spent the past two months in professional training while being evaluated for service work, where he has done exceptionally well and shown just how smart and obedient he is. He picks up on commands quickly and truly enjoys having a job to do and a person to bond with.

While he excelled in training, his naturally cautious nature with strangers means he would be happiest living life as a beloved companion rather than a service dog. In the right home, his loyalty and devotion will make him an incredible partner."

Milo and his sister Jane will be temporarily reunited this week -- at the same foster home -- until Jane goes to her new veteran to begin her life as a service dog on Monday. We're looking forward to some photos of the two siblings.

Jane & Milo are thoroughly enjoying their weekend together

UPDATE 3/24: Thanks to supporter/volunteer/adopter Jim and his wife Terri, Milo was returned to the fold here at White GSD Rescue today.

Milo's not too sure ...

If their current rescue dog, Caduses, would allow it, Milo would be heading home with Jim & Terri

An impromptu kitty intro

It didn't take Milo long at all to realize where he was -- back where he started at WGSDR. The house cats both took time out of their busy day to reintroduce themselves to Milo. He was definitely interested, but if they moved toward him, Milo was retreating. If they ran, the chase was on.

Adoption fee $375.00.
