*ZUKO* IN A NUTSHELL: Under a year old, good with other dogs. As with all young shepherds, especially those that have experienced a shelter environment, he needs ongoing socialization to learn to trust again. |
We first heard about Zuko from our facebook angel, Kathy J, in early September. He was only 4 months old and had come into the shelter as a stray (intake photo above). Not surprisingly, no one came looking for him as he sat and waited ... and waited. Our intake was closed, but Kathy must have been keeping an eye on him as the moment we were able to take in new dogs, Kathy resent us a link, telling us that even after a month, Zuko was still there! We immediately made plans to save him and changed the spelling of his name from "Zucko" to "Zuko" in honor of Danny Zuko (John Travolta's character in "Grease").
Our Husky Camp transporters were on their way to the shelter when a quick check of the listings found that Zuko had been MOVED to another shelter several miles away. Undeterred, Chuck and Jon changed direction and were once again headed to bail Zuko out.
Zuko will be enjoying the hospitality of Husky Camp until we can make arrangements to transport him to Arizona in the next week or so. Please check back for updates. On the way back from picking up Zuko, Chuck and Jon stopped at yet another shelter and liberated Kyle and Bailey, too!
UPDATE 10/1: We have confirmed transport with Husky Camp! Zuko will be heading to Phoenix this Saturday afternoon! Adoption fee to be determined.
