| *DEBBIE* IN A NUTSHELL: Sweet, friendly, low energy adult female. | ||||||
| Our first view of Debbie (photo above) told us everything we needed to know about her. We could not in good conscience turn our backs on her and allow her to be euthanized. When a shelter personally reaches out to us about a dog, we know there has to be something extra special about that dog -- there are just too many -- Debbie just stood out. When we asked for additional photos, we were sent this video of her:
Debbie was found as a stray in Arvin, California. It's obvious she has been used for breeding (multiple times) and it's our guess that when she could no longer produce, she was discarded. Her shelter notes indicate: "Walks well, friendly with handlers. Calm in yard, liked to just wander." Debbie is scheduled to join the group at Husky Camp on Monday, January 26th, until room (and transport) can be arranged for her here in Phoenix. UPDATE 1/26: Our thanks to Jon and Chuck at Husky Camp for liberating Debbie from the shelter!
UPDATE 2/17: It's transport day! Thanks to Chuck and Jon from Husky Camp and Betty, our transport volunteer, Debbie is on her way to Phoenix. We will be giving her a day or two to settle in and then she'll be ready for introductions ... hopefully with her forever family!
According to Betty, "She is such a sweetie! With I could take her home, but Todd is still not ready for another 5th dog. She's laid back; just a cool kid!"
"Made a stop at burnt wells rest area, gave a little water, walked around stretched those legs! She listens well, she wanted to keep going but all I said is this way and she followed! Sweet girl!"
Debbie has arrived safe and sound in Phoenix!
UPDATE 3/4: Debbie saw our groomer today for a much needed bath and brush. According to Michelle, she loved every minute of it and allowed them to do whatever they needed to do to try and get her coat clean. It's our guess that this girl has never had a bath or a brush.
UPDATE 4/4: Debbie has been with us for about 5 weeks now. She's an easy keeper and friendly to all -- both 2 and 4 footed. She does not like to be out in the yard alone and will do everything she can to get back inside where her people are. Her coat is finally starting to look like a healthy shepherd's coat. She loves her food and we're seeing she gets whatever she needs. Adoption fee $325.00.
